ABOUT ME

Ana Redd, OTR/L, CMT graduated from Utah State University with a BS in Kinesiology and a minor in Psychology. She graduated from Touro University Nevada with her Masters in Occupational Therapy. She is the Founder of Liv4More OT. After having airway and sleep concerns with her first baby, Ana committed to educate herself in ways to help her own child and hopefully others along the way. This lead her to being prepared for successful intervention when her second baby was born with tethered oral tissues and feeding/breathing concerns. With a commitment to continuing education, Ana has learned valuable treatment techniques to make therapy and home programs as efficient and effective as possible. She has pursued education in orofacial myofunctional disorders across the lifespan of infant to adult. Ana completed the Tethered Oral Tissues Specialty Training (TOTS). She has completed Feed the Peds and the Myo Method Course and is certified through that program as CMT. She completed the Pre/post advanced frenectomy training course with Michelle Emanuel and is currently working to became certified in TummyTime! Method with Michelle Emanuel. Ana is working to complete infant reflexology and infant pelvic floor certified. Ana specializes in feeding disorders and orofacial myofunctional disorders.

What is orofacial myology?

“Orofacial Myology is a specialized oral discipline that evaluates and treats a variety of oral and facial (orofacial) muscle (myo-) postural and functional disorders and habit patterns that may disrupt normal dental development and also create cosmetic problems.” – IAOM

What can an orofacial myofunctional disorder cause?

  • Crooked teeth or orthodontic relapse
  • Headaches
  • TMJ (jaw joint) pain
  • Forward head posture
  • Digestive disorders such as acid reflux or stomach aches from air swallowing
  • Sleep and breathing disorders
  • Oral lesion from tongue irritation
  • Gum disease
  • Psychological problems
  • Failure to thrive and other child development problems
  • Middle ear drainage issues
  • Grinding or clenching of the teeth

What is a tongue tie?

  • Ankyloglossia/tongue tie: A congenital formation of the lingual frenulum that restricts range of motion of the tongue contributing to functional deficits
  • Ankylolabia/lip tie: A congenital formation of the labial frenulum that restricts range of motion of the lips contributing to functional deficits

  • Buccal/cheek tie: A congenital formation of the buccal frenulum that restricts range of motion of the cheeks contributing to functional deficits

Why myofunctional therapy?

Correcting oral motor dysfunction through therapy can help:
– Stabilize current dental and orthodontic treatments
– Improve articulation and speech intelligibility
– Increase awareness of tongue, lip, and jaw posture
– Establish normal swallow patters

How do I know if my child has a feeding disorder?

Your child may have a feeding or swallowing problem if they:

  • arch their back or stiffen when feeding

  • cry or fuss when feeding

  • fall asleep when feeding

  • have problems breastfeeding
/bottlefeeding
  • have trouble breathing while eating and drinking

  • refuse to eat or drink

  • eat only certain textures, such as soft food or crunchy food

  • take a long time to eat

  • pocket (which means to hold food in their mouth)

  • have problems chewing

  • cough or gag during meals

  • drool a lot or have liquid come out of their mouth or nose

  • get stuffy during meals

  • have a gurgly, hoarse, or breathy voice during or after meals

  • spit up or throw up a lot

  • are not gaining weight or growing

What populations do you serve?

Liv4More serves all populations who would benefit from myofunctional therapy/feeding therapy; this serves the lifespan.

What is a comprehensive evaluation?

All evaluations are comprehensive and information gathering occurs prior to services. Please complete all intake paperwork and submit prior to arrival for evaluation. During evaluation, pictures/videos will be taken for information gathering purposes. Serving in Wyoming and Idaho

Do you do virtual therapy?

I sure do! You will receive a link through the patient portal to connect to a HIPPA compliant video conference (similar to Zoom and Google Meet).

Infant Feeding Therapy

Ana is an infant feeding therapist and specialized in TOTs training, Feed the Peds, and pre/post frenectomy advanced training. Infant feeding therapy can be for breastfed and bottlefed babies. In conjunction with infant feeding therapy, Liv4More utilizes TummyTime! Method for improved therapeutic feeding.

Pediatric Feeding

Ana has completed several advanced feeding courses to provide pediatric feeding therapy. This includes Feed The Peds and the MyoMethod. She also has specialized training in tethered oral tissues and oral motor function. Feeding therapy (with a twist of myo) is provided for children ages 6 months and up.

Myofunctional Therapy

Media Orofacial myofunctional therapy includes therapeutic exercises/therapy to strengthen and habilitate facial and tongue muscles for optimal function. Goals include improving: nasal breathing, resting tongue posture, lip seal, optimal chewing and swallowing patterns.
For optimal results, we often work closely with an interdisciplinary team: ENT’s, Orthodontists, Dentists, Oral Surgeons, Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, Craniosacral therapists and other professionals.

TummyTime! Method

TummyTime! Method is a therapeutic tool that helps remedy: Asymmetries such as torticollis or plagiocephaly, Gestational and birth trauma, in utero/gestational constraint, postural preferences, nervous system dysregulation (unsettled, fussy or irritated babies). It improves oral motor and tongue function, Autonomic nervous system regulation and resiliency, and improves sensory processing skills in pre-crawling babies.
